Jerry Spinelli has written an entire book about a modern day tall tale hero: Maniac Magee.
Do you remember the almost unbelievable accounts told about this boy legend when he runs and when he unties Cobble's knot? These accounts were told with excellent VOICE.
Today, you'll be writing a short story about a modern day character whose story is worthy of being told like it's a tall tale. Use Maniac Magee as inspiration, and use actual tall tales to inspire you as well. Try to capture the voice of other tall tales as you write your own.
Your teacher will hand you a graphic organizer. Fill it out completely before you start writing!
