Dancing with the
Math Stars

writing creative "biographies" for equations and graphs that just want to dance!

Student Writer Instructions:

You are going to get a chance to be the head biography writer for the new television show, "Dancing with the Math Stars!" Like "Dancing with the Stars," this math spin-off has dancers, but instad of has-been celebrities shaking their groove things, "Dancing with the Math Stars" has equations getting down and getting funky.

Each equation (or star) will need a snappy introduction that can be read on TV. This introduction not only shows who the dancer (equation) is, but what they like, how they act, how they have changed (or can change), and what their goals are during the competition.

You will be asked to choose an equation to write a biography for. You are writing this introduction about both the equation and its graph, so if you need to step it up a notch by giving your equation some similarities to an actual famous personality, then do it. Here is a list of equations you might choose from.

If you can’t think of an interesting personality to give to your equation, use the interactive button below to scroll through some potential choices.

Write your biography based on the model your teacher will show you.

Before you submit your biography for grading, make sure you ask a fellow student to critique it. Revise your biography to make your ideas as clear as possible.

Now, let’s dance!
