Overview of this Lesson:

Choice has become an expectation of today’s American youth. Many students think choice is something others offer them instead of something that they decide to be an active participant in. After asking, "Who decides how your students lives are mapped out? What can students do to change or create a future?" students will be asked to examine life goals, trials, and experiences to share their wisdom on their experiences in a variety of writing formats. 6-Trait Overview for this Lesson:

The focus trait for this activity is idea development as students will reflect on personal experience in order to make a statement about life. The support trait is word choice, and students will deliberately think about high-quality adjectives and verbs as they draft and revise.
