Student Writer Instructions:
What does it mean to be a “good person”? How did you learn these traits?
Today, you and your group members will be composing an original story for younger students to help them build strong character and become good people.
First, your teacher will show you some videos that are supposed to teach kids character (movies and stories are much more engaging for kids than lectures or school lessons). From there, you are to come up with your own lesson that you think kids should learn and, in groups, brainstorm a story to teach this lesson.
Next, you will review the organization of this type of story by completing plot charts with the movies. You will then fill out a plot chart for your story to make sure it is interesting and has all the parts of a plot that a good narrative needs.
After you write your story, you will revise and edit it. You then get to publish it onto kamishibai cards, with words on one side and pictures on the other. Finally, you and your group members will really get to read this story to younger kids!
