I love to start my school year off with a song that I feel will inspire kids to consider the upcoming year. After watching the "Breakaway" video and spending some time dissecting the song's lyrics, I knew that Kelly Clarkson would be my inspiration. Inspiration also came from another American icon: People Magazine. While waiting in a grocery line, I was struck by how many people just picked up the magazine and read it while they waited to be checked out. Inspired, I knew that this was the beginning of My Big Break-- a lesson that inspires my students to think big as they plan for their upcoming academic year !
