Noun-Inspired Animal Reports

organizing an animal report by first brainstorming precise nouns

Student Writer Instructions:

ClimbersSearchersSwimmersDiggersSleepers.  In We Are Bears , carefully chosen nouns are used to describe black bears.

Do you think you could come up with some interesting nouns about another animal?  For this writing activity, you will first choose an animal to write about by pressing the first button.

Pressing the second button will give you a choice of nouns that might describe your animal.  Find one that is a precise noun for your animal.  Then...you will need to come up with more nouns on your own, so that you have enough to write a fact-filled report about your animal.  Remember to use precise and accurate nouns.  Write your nouns down so you don’t forget to use them in you report.

When thinking up your nouns, it might help to have some factual information about the animal you choose.  You can look in a book, or you can use an on-line resource like Yahooligans.  For your report, you will need animal facts about each of your nouns.
