Wacky Tabloid Headlines

This writing prompt generator was proposed by Nevada teacher Rose Healion while attending a teacher in-service sponsored by the Northern Nevada Writing Project. Rose says, "Take those fabulous tabloids from the supermarket right in to your classroom.  Have your students write 'wacky' news stories based on these headline prompts.  As your students describe who, what, when, where, why, and how, they'll develop a unique idea into fun, freewheeling 'news' stories."

Writer Instructions:

Congratulations!  You have just been hired as a reporter for the "Wacky World News" tabloid newspaper. 

Create a headline by pressing the three buttons below.  Using the headline as your inspiration, develop a fabulous news story worthy of the "Wacky World News."  Don't be afraid to quote imaginary scientists, authorities, or various confidential sources to make your story seem more tabloid-like.  And...have fun!
